The Celtic village of Mitterkirchen
With around 20 houses and an accessible barrow, Mitterkirchen's exciting outdoor museum offers a comprehensive insight into the living environment of the Hallstatt period, which was between 800 and 450 BC. The museum was built based upon insights gained from archaeological digs in the village district of Lehen, strictly adhering to contemporary structural engineering techniques. In 2011, six adults and 3 children lived in the village as if it were still in the Hallstatt period. This experiment is set to continue in 2014.
